Things will be different this year.
My mom, Dr. Permanarian Somad M.Pd, was in dialysis for the past 4.5 years. Her life spirit had declined knowing that couple of her friends who’s also suffered from dialysis had passed away consecutively this year. On top of it, last month she got injury in her hip which forced her to do a hip surgery in the last week of June.
During this summer holiday, my Mom was terribly unwell and my little sister was in her late pregnancy. I lived with my husband who works in Bali, and for this holiday I was intended to go back to my home town and take care both of them; especially my mom. I spoke to my husband, God knows when I can celebrate Idul Fitri again with my mom as she’s getting old and having a serious health concerned. But at that time, I wasn’t suspect anything.
While I’m writing this, I am on a flight going back to Bali; holiday is over. My sister has given a birth to a beautiful baby girl; a first granddaughter to my mom, a perfect gift. The baby girl called Areta.
However, my mom has returned home to a better place; a place that only Allah can provide. I wasn’t suspecting this, I wasn’t prepared for this. Things are different now, it feels empty. But I got her message clear that I have to be PRESENT for everybody.
I got you Momma, I saw how you managed everything. Give me strength ya Allah.. Bismillahirohmanirrohim..
Momma, you are the real sample of a survivor. Your legacy remained immortal..
